The Happy Dog Directory, a print and online resource guide for dogs and their owners, lent their support in three Canine events last weekend: Puppy MIll Awareness Day, Cape Ann Animal Aid Dog Days, and Four Paws in Action. Puppy Mill Awareness Day was held Saturday at Salem Commons to educate people on the cruelty of puppy mills and what individuals can do to stop them. The event featured speakers, a dog parade, rescue groups, and a new hit: the canine kissing booth.
Cape Ann Animal Aid Dog Days is an outdoor fundraising event for the Cape Ann Animal Aid, in Gloucester, designed to celebrate dogs and the people who love them while simultaneously raising much needed funds for homeless animals in need on the North Shore. Cape Ann Animal Aid is in the process of building Christopher Cutler Rich Animal shelter.
Four Paws in Action celebrated all registered therapy animals and their handlers as part of Billericaʼs Yankee Doodle Homecoming Weekend. Agility demonstrations, speakers, and dog costume parades were part of the event.
Happy Dog Directory is a Stoneham company run by Janet Rivers. Believing that every dog has a story, the Happy Dog Directory distributed print directories and held raffles at each event for a photo spot and a highlighted canine biography to appear in their web service directory: www.happydogdirectory.com. Happydogdirectory.com wants to bring to light the life lines that shelter dogs provide to people. Many question: “who saved who?” when the adopt a shelter dog. Three of these stories will appear on their website in November.
